Clara AI's CV upload and parsing feature accepts CVs and LinkedIn profile URLs at three points in the hiring workflow: from candidates during the pre-call onboarding flow, manually from recruiters in the job report, or via the backoffice by operations teams.
Once uploaded, an AI-powered parsing engine extracts structured data for experience, education, and certifications, rendering them as readable cards in the candidate's CV tab alongside the AI interview report and a CV fit percentage score.
Clara AI already gives recruiters a structured, evidence-led view of every candidate: a recorded phone interview, a written AI report, and weighted scores across every criterion that matters for the role.
CV parsing adds another dimension to that picture, anchoring interview performance in documented work history without changing how the intake flow works.
How CV data makes a strong evidence base even stronger
When a recruiter reviews a candidate in Clara AI, they are already working from more structured information than most hiring tools provide.
The AI interview gives them a scored, written assessment of how the candidate performed against specific criteria.
Adding CV data to that view means every assessment now sits alongside context: how long the candidate spent in similar roles, what industries they have worked in, and what qualifications they hold.
This is particularly useful at the shortlisting stage. A candidate who scores Great across communication and reliability means more when you can also see four years in a warehouse team leader role and an IOSH certificate.
Clara AI brings those two things together in a single view, so recruiters spend less time cross-referencing and more time making decisions with confidence.
How CV upload and parsing works across two key touchpoints
Clara AI is built with flexibility, allowing CV uploading via two key methods:
Candidate self-upload - During the pre-call onboarding flow, candidates see an optional step to upload their CV (PDF or DOCX, up to 5MB) and add their LinkedIn URL. The upload is asynchronous: candidates proceed immediately to the interview without waiting for parsing to complete. Their experience and education appear in the dashboard once the call is done.
Recruiter manual upload - If a candidate sent their CV by email or through a separate channel, the recruiter can upload it directly from the job report. The dashboard enters an "Analyzing" state for a few seconds, then populates the experience, education, and certifications cards automatically.
What recruiters see once a CV is uploaded
Once uploaded, the CV tab shows structured cards for experience, education, and certifications, sitting alongside the AI interview report and a CV Fit percentage score.
The CV fit score reflects how well the candidate's documented background aligns with the role criteria, calculated after the interview completes.
Recruiters can download the original CV file at any time or click through to the candidate's LinkedIn profile.
If a CV needs replacing, uploading a new file overwrites the existing one and triggers re-parsing.
The CV content does not influence Clara AI's interview match score. The two data sources sit side by side, keeping the integrity of the AI assessment intact while giving recruiters the broader context they need.
What more context gives your team back
Clara AI's core value has always been reducing the time recruiters spend on low-value admin. CV parsing extends that further. Rather than switching between platforms, chasing emails, or manually checking LinkedIn before a shortlist call, recruiters now have everything in one view from the moment they open a candidate's profile.
Across a team managing ten active roles at any given time, that kind of consolidation adds up. The time that used to go into gathering background context now goes into reviewing it, comparing candidates, and preparing sharper shortlists for client review. The difference between hiring another coordinator and getting more from the people you already have often comes down to exactly that kind of shift.
Built around the candidate experience too
The CV upload step is optional for candidates, and a failed or skipped upload never blocks them from reaching the interview.
If an upload fails due to a network issue, the candidate continues to the call without interruption. The interview remains the priority. CV data enriches the recruiter's view after the fact, adding context without adding friction to the candidate journey.
CV content is also not used to pre-screen candidates before they speak to Clara AI. Every candidate who applies gets the interview. The AI assesses them on how they perform, not on what their document looks like before they have had the chance to speak.
Candidate CV upload and parsing is available now across all Clara AI accounts.
Log in to your dashboard to see the updated CV tab on any candidate who has completed a web intake, or start uploading CVs directly from the job report for candidates who sent documents outside the platform.
