Candidate guide: Human review process

You may request human review at any time. Clara does not score your session when you activate this process. Here are the exact 4 steps.

How to request human review

  1. Access the application link

Open the link from your email or the job posting.

How to find it:  The link appears in your job application email or directly in the job posting.

  1. Click the support icon

Top-right corner of the screen — visible before and during the interview.

When to use it:  Click this icon at any point — before you start, during the interview, or if you need an accommodation. No reason is required.

  1. Complete your personal information

The system confirms your request. Instead of connecting you to Clara, you receive this message:

What this means:  Clara does not evaluate or score this session. Your application is passed directly to a human recruiter for independent review, using only job-related criteria.

  1. The recruiter receives your application

Your candidacy appears in the client’s dashboard with the tag “Requested by human.”

What you should know: Requesting human review will not negatively impact your consideration for the role. Applicable anti-retaliation protections under federal, state, and local law may apply.

Plain language. No legal knowledge required.

1. Purpose and scope

Clara.Works or the Client uses Clara, an AI recruitment tool as part of its candidate evaluation process for roles posted in the United States. This document applies from the moment you are invited to complete a Clara interview through the date on which any Covered Decision affecting your candidacy is final.

2. Human review

You may request human review of your candidacy while your application remains under active consideration. Where applicable law requires a specific procedure or timeline, Clara.Works will comply with that requirement. To request human review:

How to request:  Follow the instructions explained in the Step by Step Guide. Email us.peopleadmin.team@jobandtalent.com — state your name and the role you applied for.

Requesting human review will not negatively impact your consideration for the role. Applicable anti-retaliation protections under federal, state, and local law may apply.

3. Accommodations and alternative process

If you need an accommodation or prefer an alternative process for any reason, contact us at us.peopleadmin.team@jobandtalent.com before or during your interview. We will evaluate your request under applicable law, engage in the interactive process to the extent necessary and determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided.

Candidates who require screen reader technology or other accessibility accommodations are encouraged to contact us before the interview begins. A human-conducted alternative may be available as a reasonable accommodation.

4. Timing

Clara.Works will respond to requests within a reasonable time. Specific statutory deadlines:

(a)  For written requests for data or retention information submitted by NYC-based candidates for NYC-based roles: Clara.Works will respond within 30 calendar days (NYC Admin. Code § .6 RCNY § 5-304(d)(2).

(b)  Where required by applicable law, Clara.Works will consider reasonable accommodation requests and engage in any required interactive process within reasonable time.

5. How the human review works

When your session is routed to human review:

(a)  The reviewer assesses you based on job-related criteria and qualifications documented for the role.

(b)  The reviewer may adjust or disregard Clara’s prior output where they determine, based on job-related criteria, that applicable law requires a different outcome — including where the AI output reflects a qualification standard that screens out individuals with disabilities (ADA § 12112(b)(6)).

(c)  You will be notified of the outcome of your application in accordance with applicable law.

6. Anti-retaliation

Clara.Works complies with all applicable anti-retaliation laws. Requesting human review will not negatively impact your consideration for the role.
